About the Role
We are committed to maintaining trust by preventing illicit activities, protecting against criminal exploitation, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. As an Investigation Analyst, you will handle sensitive, high-risk cases, applying your expertise in blockchain analytics and financial crime investigations. You’ll play a vital role in safeguarding our platform while embodying our core values of integrity and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth investigations using blockchain analytics to support Coinbase’s BSA/AML program.
- Review high-risk cases involving complex activities such as fraud, money laundering, terror financing, and human trafficking.
- Analyze customer activity to determine if Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) are warranted under FinCEN guidelines.
- Perform Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions advisory reviews, and comply with USA PATRIOT Act requirements.
- Document findings to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
- Stay updated on industry developments in KYC, BSA/AML, and OFAC compliance.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in AML investigations and SAR preparation.
- Strong investigatory skills with the ability to analyze ambiguous, complex patterns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for regulatory reporting and stakeholder interactions.
- Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Knowledge of financial products and services across the industry.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in cryptocurrency or blockchain investigations.
- Certifications such as CAMS, CFE, CFCS, or crypto-specific credentials (Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic).
- Familiarity with SQL and tools like Looker, SuperSet, or Snowflake.
