Head, EMEA Security Risk & Controls

At Coinbase, we're on a mission to increase economic freedom globally. We're seeking a passionate, experienced leader to join our team as Head, EMEA Security Risk & Controls. This role involves overseeing second-line security teams in the EMEA region, ensuring regulatory compliance while maintaining Coinbase’s innovative and agile culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the second-line security team across EMEA, ensuring effective implementation of security policies and controls to meet regional regulatory requirements.
• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the security teams.
• Maintain expertise in EMEA cybersecurity regulations, including GDPR, PSD2, and ISO 27001.
• Collaborate with US teams to ensure global security practices meet EMEA standards.
• Build strong relationships with regulatory bodies, country leadership, and cross-functional teams.
• Lead large-scale, cross-functional programs that integrate compliance, regulatory, and audit requirements.
• Drive successful roadmap delivery, ensuring alignment with stakeholders and timely resolution of issues.

Requirements:

• 10+ years in information security, risk management, or compliance, with leadership experience in EMEA security operations.
• In-depth knowledge of EMEA cybersecurity regulations (e.g., SCA, BAIT, DORA).
• Proven ability to build relationships with senior leaders and regulatory bodies.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with experience influencing global teams.
• Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience managing outsourced services and third-party providers.
• Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and handling complex problems.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in technology, fintech, or crypto industries.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud computing, Google apps, JIRA, Confluence.
• Certifications like CRISC, CISM, or CISA.
