Head of Compliance - Cyprus

As Head of Compliance for our Cyprus-based subsidiary, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Coinbase’s regulatory strategy in a high-growth market. This founding position demands passion for innovation, commitment to compliance excellence, and the ability to lead with impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. You will oversee and manage Coinbase’s Compliance and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programs in Cyprus, while working closely with the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) and advising our business and product teams on MiFID compliance.

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure Coinbase Cyprus complies with relevant regulatory requirements and stays ahead of evolving local regulations.
• Provide updates to senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance programs, incidents, and regulatory developments.
• Manage day-to-day regulatory communications, notifications, and reports, including engagement with CySEC.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, oversee audits, and ensure timely resolution of findings.
• Develop and update policies and processes to meet regulatory and business needs.
• Deliver compliance training for local employees and provide strategic advice for product and market expansion initiatives.
• Collaborate with global teams to maintain a consistent, integrated approach to compliance and control.

What We’re Looking For:

• 8+ years of experience in compliance, including senior leadership roles.
• In-depth knowledge of Cyprus financial services, AML, and MiFID II regulations, with direct experience liaising with CySEC or similar EU regulatory bodies.
• Proven ability to independently manage compliance programs, audits, and exams.
• Experience building compliance frameworks from the ground up.
• Strong collaboration skills across business functions and global teams, with an emphasis on working with senior management.
• Track record of developing and executing strategies in complex, global organizations.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in cryptocurrency or fintech industries.
• Professional compliance qualifications or membership in a recognized body.
