Your Role: Head of Compliance, Coinbase Ireland
As the Head of Compliance, you will oversee and manage compliance for Coinbase’s Irish entities, including a regulated E-Money Institution and two registered VASPs. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping regulatory strategy, balancing innovation with compliance, and ensuring Coinbase remains the most trusted cryptocurrency company.
This role reports to the Director of Compliance for EMEA and is supported by Coinbase’s global compliance infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance: Identify and maintain compliance with Irish and EU regulatory requirements, with a focus on EMI and consumer protection.
- Proactive Adaptation: Stay ahead of regulatory developments and implement necessary changes in collaboration with internal teams.
- Strategic Leadership: Advise senior management and the Coinbase Ireland Board of Directors on compliance and regulatory landscapes, escalating material issues as necessary.
- Regulatory Engagement: Manage day-to-day communications with the Central Bank of Ireland and other regulatory bodies. Oversee notifications, comment letters, and related correspondence.
- Programme Management: Lead audits, exams, and the development of internal controls to ensure a robust compliance framework.
Note: This role does not cover AML/CTF/Sanctions Compliance.
What You Bring:
- Experience: 8+ years in compliance (preferably in Ireland), including senior leadership roles, with expertise in financial services and E-Money Institution compliance.
- Regulatory Insight: Direct experience with the Central Bank of Ireland or equivalent EU regulators, along with knowledge of crypto regulations.
- Independent Leadership: Proven ability to manage compliance programmes, audits, and exams autonomously.
- Collaboration: A track record of working effectively with global, remote teams.
- Credentials: Professional compliance or finance qualifications and membership in a recognized professional body.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in cryptocurrency or fintech.
- Previous PCF (Pre-Approved Controlled Functions) experience.
