We’re seeking a driven Senior Counsel, Product to join our world-class legal team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives under pressure, embraces collaboration, and is eager to solve complex challenges. You’ll partner with product teams to provide legal and strategic advice, ensuring compliance and enabling innovation as we develop cutting-edge solutions.
What You’ll Do:
- Embed with Coinbase product teams, providing proactive legal counsel throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate across departments (Product, Compliance, Privacy, Finance, etc.) to identify and address legal and regulatory risks.
- Guide product development to align with U.S. and international laws while navigating the complexities of financial and internet services regulations.
- Partner with internal teams and outside counsel to resolve issues and ensure timely, practical legal advice.
- Operate in a fast-paced environment, delivering risk-adjusted guidance tailored to Coinbase’s ambitious goals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Credentials: J.D. or equivalent, licensed in a U.S. state, with 8+ years of legal experience (preferably in fintech, blockchain, or financial services).
- Expertise: Experience with consumer financial services regulations (e.g., Reg E, FinCEN MSB, GDPR, FTC UDAAP) and familiarity with AML/KYC requirements.
- Passion: Strong interest in blockchain technology, digital currency, and decentralized applications.
- Problem-Solving: Proven ability to balance risk, creativity, and pragmatism while delivering actionable advice.
- Collaboration: Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills and the ability to lead cross-departmental discussions.

Compensation:
$218,450–$257,000 annually, plus target bonus, equity, and benefits.
