Job Application: Fraud Risk Intern (Summer 2025)

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom globally. We’re seeking a motivated Fraud Risk Intern to join our Payments Risk Management team for a 12-week summer internship in 2025, based in New York.

As a Fraud Risk Intern, you’ll help identify and prevent fraud, collaborate with teams across Product, Data Science, and Engineering, and develop risk management strategies. You’ll write SQL, build dashboards, analyze trends, and work with teams to improve user experience while mitigating risks.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement custom risk management strategies with cross-functional teams
• Use SQL to analyze risk trends and build dashboards
• Communicate insights to Payments Risk leadership
• Partner with product teams to improve user journeys without increasing risk
• Identify and address ineffective rules and controls
• Document and improve processes

Requirements:

• ~1 year of SQL experience
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Ability to manage time and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have:

• Pursuing a degree in technology or finance
• Experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
• Basic knowledge of crypto or interest in learning
