About the Role:
The Reliability Engineering team ensures Coinbase systems are reliable, scalable, and efficient. As a Reliability Engineer, you'll collaborate with teams to build robust systems, share best practices, and advocate for reliability as a core engineering value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and measure observability, reliability, and availability metrics.
- Automate processes to reduce toil and enhance system reliability.
- Optimize cloud deployments using tools like Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
- Collaborate to minimize service disruptions and enhance incident response.
- Proactively address reliability issues and implement solutions.
- Mentor engineers and embed reliability into the culture.
- Write high-quality, tested code and debug complex technical challenges.
- Ensure system security, scalability, and architectural integrity.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in software engineering with experience in designing and maintaining production services.
- Expertise in system design, coding, debugging, and performance tuning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven critical thinking and problem-solving under pressure.
- Ability to dive deep into any layer of the tech stack.
- On-call availability to resolve issues promptly.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with high-throughput, low-latency systems and observability tools (e.g., Kibana, Datadog).
- Proficiency in Ruby, Go, Terraform, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with crypto, blockchain, and regulated environments.
Compensation:
Target annual salary: $180,625—$212,000 USD, including bonus, equity, and benefits.
