Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Developer - Staking API)

This role will involve both new product development and expanding Coinbase Commerce, as we redefine payment systems with stablecoins, L2 networks, and Coinbase Smart Wallet.

Responsibilities:

• Develop a 0-1 crypto-based payment product to replace traditional systems
• Design, maintain, and scale a secure payment backend using Go, Ruby, and Solidity
• Collaborate with frontend and cross-functional teams to prototype, refine, and launch new payment solutions
• Build backend systems for a web3 payment protocol
• Optimize backend performance and reliability

Qualifications:

• 6+ years in backend software development; crypto experience preferred
• Expertise in Go and/or Ruby; Solidity experience a plus
• Strong understanding of Ethereum, EVM, smart contracts, distributed systems, and web security for financial systems
• Proficiency in cloud services (AWS), containerization (Kubernetes), and developer operations
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent

Compensation: Salary: $180,625—$212,000 USD + bonus, equity, and benefits.
