Senior Software Engineer, Datastores (Infrastructure) – Coinbase

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Datastores (Infrastructure) team, supporting and innovating the critical database technologies driving Coinbase’s products.

What You’ll Do

• Design, implement, and operate scalable distributed database systems (e.g., MongoDB, Postgres, DynamoDB, Redis).
• Develop future database systems with a focus on scalability, reliability, and efficiency.
• Provide guidance to engineering teams on database technology selection and implementation.
• Write high-quality, tested code to meet business needs.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and support operational reliability of database systems.
• Stay updated on industry trends to continuously improve systems.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in building and operating distributed systems.
• Hands-on expertise in deploying large-scale databases in production.
• Strong experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., MongoDB, RDS, DynamoDB).
• Proficiency in backend development (e.g., Golang, Java, Python).
• Solid understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and reliability.
• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with crypto technologies and onchain activity.
• Expertise in incident response and disaster recovery.
• Background in scaling systems in high-growth environments.

Pay Transparency: Target annual salary of $185,500 CAD, including bonus, equity, and benefits.
