As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll lead projects, mentor peers, and play a critical role in ensuring the reliability of Coinbase’s software across development and production environments. You’ll dive into systems engineering, optimize performance, and set strategic roadmaps while collaborating with engineering teams to enhance service reliability, observability, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze Linux internals to resolve performance issues with third-party node client software.
- Advocate for system reliability and guide partner teams across the stack.
- Define roadmaps balancing reliability, cost, and feature trade-offs.
- Reduce operational overhead by prioritizing common issue elimination.
- Mentor engineers on design and coding best practices.
- Improve observability, establish SLOs, and optimize performance.
- Automate operational tasks and design reliable system architectures.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of backend software or infrastructure experience.
- Expertise in debugging, performance tuning, and observability.
- Proven ability to solve complex, impactful problems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Critical thinking under pressure and a deep understanding of system architecture.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with blockchains and protocols.
- Proficiency in Ruby, Go, Terraform, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with regulated environments and crypto-forward tools (e.g., Ethereum, ENS, dApps).
Salary: $211,500 annually, including target bonus, equity, and benefits.
