Security Analyst, Lead

As part of the Security team for our Institutional business, you will manage and support core security processes, ensuring compliance with BaFIN regulations for our German entity. You’ll work closely with product engineers and other technical teams to create secure, frictionless user experiences. A deep understanding of backend systems and IT security is key to succeeding in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Information Security for the German entity, focusing on IT security and compliance with BaFIN.
• Oversee security processes for Coinbase systems, focusing on IT assets, applications, and identity access management.
• Handle Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM) log collection, ensuring proper documentation and protocols.
• Monitor IT security projects, including identity and access management and privileged access controls.
• Conduct User Access Reviews and track security risks associated with CBG operations.
• Analyze data to assess security product effectiveness and suggest improvements.
• Design policy and risk management documentation.
• Ensure regulatory compliance as Coinbase expands.

Requirements:

• Expertise in designing operational processes in regulated environments (e.g., BaFIN).
• Experience in IT security, with a focus on local IT system controls.
• Strong knowledge of SIEM log collection and identity/access management.
• Skilled in data analysis and reporting at an executive level.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to continuously learn and apply processes in a highly regulated environment.
• Technical understanding of backend architectures and IT security projects.
• Experience with SQL, ideally in Snowflake or similar platforms.
